The yard traces its history back over 200 years to Tancook Island off the South Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. Here, Amos Stevens in the late 1800's became known for developing the famous Tancook Whaler.
In 1945 Amos's grandson, G.L. Stevens returned from the war and joined his father and grandfather in building boats and yachts at Chester Seacraft located at our present day site. Destroyed by fire, G.L.rebuilt the business as Stevens Boatworks.
Many boats, large and small were launched from this yard over the next half century, of G.L.'s design and from designers such as Howard Chapelle, Sparkman Stevens, Francis Herresoff and others.
Our marina was rebuilt and modernized, our facility buildings upgraded, a marine engine service and repair shop added and we became Atlantic Dealer for Beta Marine diesel engines and generators.
Whether your boating requirements are repairs or restoration, mechanical / electrical service or haul out, launching and storage, marina berth or mooring, Stevens Boatworks is here to help. We treat our staff and customers with respect, building honest long term relationships.
